Archetype Essay

A archetype is universally know symbol.  One common archetype is shadow, and this is featured in the book Red Riding Hood.  This archetype represents the bad or scary things in the story.  Which is the wolf and the woods.  The use of this archetype is important to the book because it shows how evil side of the story.
The shadow stands for the woods in the story, and the woods foreshadow that something bad is going to happen.  They also represent the fear that red riding hood has when she is walking home alone and reaches her grandmother's house and then sees the wolf in her house and she can't seem to find her grandmother anywhere.
Every story has a good and bad.  Without this all stories would be the same.  We use archetypes and representations.  A representation for good is usually a hero and for bad is usually and villain.  We use these everyday in our lives.

Story

Once upon a time there was a girl named Ariana.  Ariana live in a castle in the country with her twin sister Isabella, her mother Catherine, and her grandmother Victoria.  When she was born her father left her because he wanted normal children.  Her mother and father were just normal people like everyone else, meanwhile her grandmother was a little different.  Her grandmother had powers.  These powers were kind of like that of a wizard, where you could learn spells and different things.  When her father found out that Ariana was like her grandmother, he was angry.  He was angry because his wife, Catherine had promised him that both the children would be normal.  The odd part of the situation was only one of the twins had these powers.  It was expected that they would both have these. Since Isabella did not have the powers also, she was extremely jealous.  She would constantly blame her sister for things she didn't do to get her in trouble.  One day Ariana got tired of being blamed by her sister, so she ran off.  She called a taxi with the $78.43 which she had been saving up for the past few years for a wand to buy like her grandmother had.  She told the taxi driver to take her to a place far away.  She decided to go to her grandmother's house which was a few hours away.  When she arrived she told her grandmother how she was tired from all the blame of her sisters jealousy because she did not have powers.  So she enrolled in school where her grandmother lived and decided to stay there a while.  When her mother found out she had left she called her father, and since the only daughter living there was Isabella he decided to come back.  When Ariana found out about this she figured her parents didn't love her anymore.  She went to school and met a kid named Thomas.  They started to hangout more and more.  Her grandmother was concerned because she didn't want Thomas to find out about her powers.  Ariana's mother decided she was going to go to her grandmothers house to try to convince her to come back.  Ariana refused to go because she didn't want to leave Thomas.  The next day Ariana and Thomas decided they would run away together.  They ran away into the forest and they lived happily ever after.  The end!

Mythology Essay

Mythology
Mythology is the study of myths, or a collection of myths.  Myths are stories about people, places, or cultures.  Myths have been around for thousands of years, way before writing way invented.  These stories have been passed down from generation to generation and have been retold, and because of that we cannot prove that some myths are true or false.  Mythology has changed a lot over the years.
One example of how mythology in out current society is different from ancient Greece, is that in ancient Greece most some common topics were gods, goddesses, and the creation of how the world became.  An example of a myth about a goddess is Athena.  The ancient Greek myth says that Zeus had a huge head ache because he swallowed his wife Metis, then Athena was born out of his head wearing full armor.  Another example of a Greek myth is the Nigeria myth of how the world was created.  The myth says that an inexperienced god thought that the world needed to be more interesting, so he decided to make a new world, that was flat and had living people, with the other more experienced gods approval.
In todays world we refer to myths as historical.  Myths are very important, because if they were not they would have been forgotten a long time ago.  They show us how to look at life in a different perspective, and wonder how things really did began.  Since we have a wide variety of ways to communicate, such as story telling, what they used to do, books, and television, myths will keep spreading and carrying on through the years like it has been.
